Widely
regarded as one of the most articulate and passionate advocates of
nuclear disarmament,
Dr. Helen Caldicott has devoted the last 30 years to an international
campaign to educate the public about the medical hazards of the nuclear
age.
Dr. Caldicott, founder of the Nobel Prize
winning Physicians for Social Responsibility, was herself a nominee
for the Nobel Peace Prize. She has honorary degrees from 19 universities
and both the Smithsonian Institute and the Ladies Home Journal named
her one of the most Influential Women of the Twentieth Century.
Caldicott has authored five books, including NUCLEAR
MADNESS, MISSILE ENVY, IF YOU LOVE THIS PLANET, and A
DESPERATE PASSION.
In this address, Caldicott talks about her
latest book, THE NEW NUCLEAR DANGER: George Bushs Military
Industrial Complex. Her book serves to educate a new generation
on the dangers of the nuclear age with its startling look at the frightful
imminence of nuclear war in our volatile times.
