          Scott Ritter is a former United Nations weapons inspector in Iraq (1991 - 1998) and former U.S. marine. Ritter served for eight years as an intelligence officer in the Marine Corps, and served as an arms control inspector in the former Soviet Union and on General Norman Schwarzkopf’s staff during the Gulf War before his appointment as a weapons inspector for UNSCOM.

          As the Chief of the Concealment Investigations Team, for the United Nations Special Commission he oversaw efforts to uncover the true weapons of mass destruction capability of Iraq. He has written about his experiences in Iraq in ENDGAME: Solving the Iraq Problem — Once and For All, published by Simon & Schuster. Ritter produced a documentary film, IN SHIFTING SANDS: The Truth About UNSCOM and the Disarming of Iraq, which exposes the ramifications of the failure of the U.S. policy of economic sanctions-based containment of Iraq.

         Five months before the U.S. invaded Iraq, the former U.N. weapons inspector gave a comprehensive talk debunking the Bush administration’s claims about Iraq’s chemical, biological and nuclear weapons capabilities. In light of the post-invasion investigations which have revealed that Iraq had no weapons of mass destruction, Ritter’s pre-war warnings raise disturbing questions about the conduct of the Bush administration.

         Ritter begins his talk with a frank, personal description of the grim realities of combat from his own experience as a marine. He presents a comprehensive and detailed overview about the weapons inspection process in Iraq, debunking many of the claims about Iraq’s chemical and biological weapons. He ends with an impassioned plea for grassroots citizen activism.
